Thomas M. Biggs, M.D. (Houston, Texas, USA)
Board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Biggs is a Clinical Professor of plastic surgery at Baylor College of Medicine (Houston, Texas) and has been a Visiting Professor of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. He has served as President of the Houston Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons, and President of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and has been an Examiner for the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Biggs is a Life member of the American Association of Plastic Surgeons and a member of many other societies. He has been Editor-in-Chief of the IPRAS Journal and the Journal of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Biggs is the author of over 100 editorials and scientific publications in medical journals, several book chapters and hundreds papers at various meetings. He is co-author with Roger Khouri of the recently published book “Your Natural Breast”. He has lectured and operated by invitation in 61 countries and was the invited Ohmori Lecturer at the ISAPS congress in Melbourne in 2008 and at the annual meeting of the Oriental Society of Plastic Surgery in Seoul, Korea in 2012. Dr. Biggs recently received the most respected award, Homage, from the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery, the title of "Grandfather" to residency in Guadalajara, Mexico, and the Most Distinguished Surgeon Award by the Houston Society of Plastic Surgery (third award given in sixty years).
Dr. Biggs has been the Moderator of the bi-annual meeting held in Ekaterinburg since 2000.
Peter A. Adamson, M.D. (Toronto, Canada)
Peter A. Adamson, MD, FRCSC, FACS, is recognized as an international leader in facial plastic surgery. He studied head and neck surgery at the University of Toronto and was awarded the prestigious McLaughlin Fellowship to study cosmetic facial surgery at Tulane University in New Orleans. He established his private practice in Toronto in 1981, and currently has a private clinic in mid-town Toronto.
Dr. Adamson is on staff at The Toronto General Hospital in the University Health Network. He is Professor at the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and Head of the Division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Toronto. Dr. Adamson lectures nationally and internationally on the latest advances in cosmetic facial surgery. He has contributed more than 180 scientific publications to the medical literature, and made hundreds of medical presentations in over 30 countries.
Dr. Adamson’s expertise includes eyelid and facelift surgery, cosmetic and reconstructive nasal surgery, revision nasal surgery, endoscopic rejuvenation, laser resurfacing, Botox, and facial fillers as well as other facial plastic surgery procedures. He has served as President of both the Canadian and American Academies of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and has received numerous honours and awards for his professional contributions. He was instrumental in creating the board examination and is past President of the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Adamson published Fabulous Faces, the critically acclaimed patient guide to cosmetic facial surgery. He is also President of the Canadian Foundation for Facial Plastic Surgery, a humanitarian organization that sponsors overseas missions for surgeons to operate on underprivileged children with congenital and traumatic deformities.
Sam T. Hamra, M.D. (Dallas, Texas, USA)
Dr. Sam Hamra attended medical school and completed his internship and general surgery residency at the University of Oklahoma. His specialty training involved a Plastic Surgery Residency at New York University Medical Center's Institute of Reconstructive and Plastic Surgery, and a Fellowship at the University of Lausanne in Switzerland. Upon entering private practice, Dr. Hamra was introduced to the original SMAS technique developed by Professor Tord Skoog of Sweden in 1973. He and his associate, Dr. Mark Lemmon, were the first Americans to adopt this technique. Their award-winning work was published in 1980.
Dr. Hamra has been one of the world’s premier frontiersmen in facial rejuvenation surgery, especially involving elevation of malar fat (the Deep Plane Facelift) and inclusion of the orbicularis muscle of the lower eyelid in the Deep Plane Facelift, which became the Composite Facelift. He was the first to abandon the extensive removal of orbital fat, popular since 1928, replacing that maneuver with a septal reset procedure.
In addition to facial rejuvenation surgery, Dr. Hamra has published on rhinoplasty techniques with special emphasis on unique nasal tip procedures, and has also published on abdominoplasty, as this early surgical procedure has evolved into body lifting, incorporating newer techniques combining surgery with liposuction.
Dr. Hamra is an active member of all the prestigious American societies of plastic surgery and has been a highly sought after lecturer on plastic surgery all over the world. It’s rare to listen to a lecture on facial rejuvenation surgery without hearing tribute made to Dr. Hamra’s contributions.
Patrick L. Tonnard, M.D. (Ghent, Belgium)
Dr. Patrick L. Tonnard graduated in medicine from Ghent University in 1987. Having completed his specialty training at Ghent University Hospital and in Mexico City, he eventually set up his practice in Ghent. Since 1994 Dr. Tonnard has acted as a plastic surgery consultant at Ghent University Sint-Lucas and assistant clinical professor at Ghent University Hospital. With his colleague Dr. Verpaele he set up a private facility for aesthetic surgery - Aesthetic Medical Centre 2 in Sint-Martems-Latem in 2007.
Dr. Tonnard is a member of the Royal Belgian Society for Surgery, the Belgian and Dutch Association for Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ISAPS) and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS). He has also been appointed Fellow of the Collegium Chirurgicum Plasticum and Fellow of the European Board of Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Tonnard is the author of about 50 scientific publications including numerous articles and book chapters, and has presented over 200 scientific papers at national and international conferences. Together with Dr. Verpaele he developed the MACS lift, a minimally invasive facelift technique that has earned them an international reputation. This surgical technique was published in: The MACS-lift Short Scar Rhytidectomy, 2004, and Short Scar Face-lifting, Operative Strategies and Techniques, 2007.
Dr. Tonnard and Dr. Verpaele set up 'See and Smile' in 2006, an association of Flemish plastic surgeons and ophthalmologists operating in developing countries. Since then they have carried out plastic surgery procedures and eye treatments in Cambodia, Mexico, Myanmar and Indonesia.
Jose Luis Martín del Yerro, MD (Madrid, Spain)
José L. Martín del Yerro is Board certified in Intensive Care Medicine (1986) and Plastic Surgery (1993). He has been Professor of Surgical Pathology in Madrid and Salamanca. He has also been Professor of the European Board of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (EBOPRAS). Currently he is Chairman of the Department of Plastic Surgery (Hospital Quiron, Madrid), and Chairman of the Instituto de Cirugia Plastica (Madrid).
Dr. Martín del Yerro is a Member of Spanish Society of Plastic Surgery and an active member of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He has participated as faculty member in many Symposia and Congresses on every continent (except Antarctica).
Dr. Martín del Yerro has been Director and Organizer of the Annual Mammaplasty Augmentation Course, and during his professional career he has participated worldwide in many courses with live surgery, explaining and demonstrating his techniques.

Timothy J. Marten, MD, FACS (USA)
Timothy Marten is a Diplomat of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and Founder and Director of the Marten Clinic of Plastic Surgery in San Francisco, California. He completed his plastic surgery residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center and went on to complete three fellowships in aesthetic surgery.
Dr. Marten is an internationally recognized expert on surgery to improve and rejuvenate the face, and is a member of over twenty professional societies including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, The American Association of Plastic Surgeons, and the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. He has made over four hundred scientific presentations on aesthetic plastic surgery, and has published numerous scientific articles and textbook chapters on facelift surgery and related topics.
Dr. Marten has been recognized and honored by the fashion and beauty industries and has been profiled and quoted on television, radio, and in print media including the CNN, NPR, Vogue, W, Allure, GQ, Harperʼs Bazaar, the San Francisco Chronicle, and the New York Times.
Sydney R. Coleman, M.D. (USA)
Dr. Coleman is the creator of LipoStructure and designer of the patent-pending instruments necessary to perform this technique.
He studied during a revolutionary period in plastic surgery and medicine when liposuction and collagen were introduced to the United States. During his residency, a multitude of new reconstructive plastic surgery procedures were invented by his mentors before his very eyes at the R.K. Davies Hospital, UC San Francisco, Stanford and in Mexico. Just prior to opening his New York City practice in 1985, Dr. Coleman spent six months completing a fellowship in aesthetic surgery at the Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery of the New York University Medical Center.
Dr. Coleman is board certified in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is currently a member of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Northeastern Society of Plastic Surgery, International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and a founding member of the International Consortium of Plastic Surgeons and the Harry Buncke Microsurgical Society. Although he has extensive training and a reputation in conventional aesthetic procedures, it is through his groundbreaking work on LipoStructure® that Dr. Coleman is changing the face of plastic surgery. Due to the demand by other surgeons for training in the technique, Dr. Coleman has published articles on LipoStructure®, lectures extensively at conferences, and regularly receives other plastic surgeons for observations of LipoStructure at his office. Recently Dr. Coleman has begun producing a series of educational videos concerning LipoStructure and its manifold applications. Dr. Coleman and his groundbreaking technique has received ongoing national and local media coverage.
Carlos O. Uebel, M.D., PhD (Brazil)
Certified by the Brazilian Board of Plastic Surgery and Brazilian Board of General Surgery, Dr. Uebel is an Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery at the Pontificia Universidade Catolica do Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. He has practiced plastic surgery for over 30 years and now is serving as 1st Vice-President of the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery (SBCP) and as President-Elect of the International Society of Plastic Surgery (ISAPS). He has introduced The Punctiform Technique in the field of Hair Restoration Surgery in the end of the 80s, which still remains the most widely used technique in Baldness Surgery. He is the author of numerous publications in important medical journals about Facial and Body Contouring Surgery, as well as several book chapters. He is one of the coordinators of the International Symposium held every year in São Paulo, a meeting on its 12th Edition that brings the renowned Plastic Surgeons of the world to discuss the most recent advances of Plastic Surgery. He receives in his own clinic a great number of surgeons from around the world for training in Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery. Osvaldo Saldanha, M.D. (Brazil)
Certified by the Board of Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery (SBCP), Dr. Saldanha is the Head of Plastic Surgery Service – Unisanta (accredited by SBCP) and practiced as a plastic surgeon over 30 years in Santos and São Paulo cities. He has served as President of Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery following his positions as General Treasurer and General Secretary of SBCP. Currently he is Scientific Program Director of SBCP and a permanent member of the SBCP Board.
Dr. Saldanha developed “Lipoabdominoplasty – Saldanha’s technique” in 2000, published several papers and book chapters, he is the author of the book “Lipoabdominoplasty” translated into 3 languages and he has lectured and performed surgeries at many plastic surgery meetings around the world. He is an International Associate Editor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery journal and a reviewer of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery journal. He is an International member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and a member of the International Confederation of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons and International Society of Plastic Surgery. He was chosen to receive the Lockwood Award for Lifetime Achievement in Body Contouring by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery at the ASAPS 2011 Meeting (recognition of the rare and innovative professionals that have contributed and fundamentally improved the art, science and security in body contouring surgery). The current commitment of his team at the SBCP Department of Scientific Events is to develop "Risk Criteria for Safety in Plastic Surgery" in partnership with the Federal Council of Medicine. His view of the future for the specialty is an integration of the World Societies of Plastic Surgery with an exchange of scientific and administrative expertise in plastic surgery training.
David M. Knize, M.D. (USA)
Dr. Knize, an Associate Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at the University of Colorado, began his plastic surgery practice in Denver, Colorado, USA, in 1974 after doing two years of orthopedic surgery residency at Duke University, a general surgery residency (including a year of laboratory research) at the University of Colorado, and a plastic surgery residency (including a year of laboratory research) at New York University, where he won the First Prize in Basic Science in the 1973 Educational Foundation Scholarship Contest sponsored by the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. While at Duke University, Dr. Knize was a prosector for the freshman medical student anatomy class there, and he continued to have a keen interest in human anatomy throughout his surgical practice life. In 2001 he published a book that contained an atlas of his anatomical dissections of the human upper face. From that anatomical work Dr. Knize developed a non-endoscopic, limited incision approach to foreheadplasty, a concept for which he is best known. Dr. Knize has been a Traveling Professor for the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, an Associate Editor of the journal, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and an examiner for the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He also served on the Cosmetic Advisory Council of the American Board of Plastic Surgery. His surgical journal publications have been primarily focused on facial surgical anatomy and facial cosmetic surgical procedures.
J. William Little, M.D. (Washington, D.C., USA)
Clinical Professor of Surgery at Georgetown University pursues a solo practice of plastic surgery in downtown Washington, D.C. limited to facial rejuvenation.
Dr. Little received his M.D. from Harvard University and trained in general and plastic surgery at Case Western Reserve University, attaining board certification in both specialties. He founded the full-time, academic Division of Plastic Surgery at Georgetown, which he led for a decade and a half, until resigning his tenure to open his private practice.
Dr. Little is a member of some 30 surgical societies (including the American and European Associations of Plastic Surgeons), a Past President of six and an Honorary Member of eight. He has served as the American Delegate to the Council of Delegates of the International Confederation of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgeons and the Secretary General of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, where he also holds the designations Professor of Postgraduate Education in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and past Traveling Professor. He is also past Traveling Professor of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He has served as Chair of the Board of Governors of the National Endowment for Plastic Surgery, a major funding agency for clinical research in plastic surgery. Dr. Little is Founder and Medical Director of Operation Luz del Sol, a charitable reconstructive surgery program that treats deformed children and adults in Hispaniola (Haiti and the Dominican Republic), where he has personally led over 65 surgical missions. Dr. Little has made over 150 contributions to the plastic surgical literature and presented some 700 invited panels, courses, and lectures world-wide, most of these in the field of facial rejuvenation.
Claude Le Louarn, M.D. (Paris, France)
Certified in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery by Conseil de l’Ordre des Médecins (the French medical practitioners board), Dr. Le Louarn is a former House Officer and Chief Clinician, and is now in private practice in Paris. He was trained in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery by Dr. Paul Tessier, Dr. Jean Grignon, Dr. Claude Dufourmentel and Dr. Jacques Philippon and qualified in this specialty in 1982.
Dr. Le Louarn is a member of several scientific societies in the field of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery: Société Française de Chirurgie Plastique Reconstructive et Esthétique (Vice-President currently and President-to be in 2010), Société Française des Chirurgiens Esthétiques et Plasticiens (SOFCEP)(President in 2001) and International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS). He has been a Member of the Editorial Board of the Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (official journal of ISAPS) since 2003 and presently he is a Member of the Journal Operations Committee for this journal. In the recent 10 years Dr. Le Louarn was a Visiting Professor for Canadian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, Japanese Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery, University of British Columbia and some other societies and universities. Dr. Le Louarn has contributed more than 30 articles on Face and Body contouring in medical journals and a great number of presentations worldwide.
Bryan Mendelson, M.D. (Melbourne Australia)
Dr. Mendelson is in private practice in Melbourne, Australia. He trained in general and plastic surgery at the Mayo Clinic, USA, for six years followed by a fellowship at New York University Medical Centre under Doctors Converse, Rees and Aston. He is known for his work on the surgical anatomy of the face and as the author of several important anatomical findings. These are published in a series of classic anatomical papers on the surgical anatomy of the Temple, the retaining ligaments of the orbit Prezygomatic space, the Mid cheek as well as the jowl and the Premasseter space. He introduced the terms Prezygomatic space and Premasseter space as well as the anatomical concept of Facial Spaces, which is now being appreciated by plastic surgeons. Dr. Mendelson is the author of numerous publications in medical journals, as well as several book chapters. He was awarded the Raymond Vilain Award by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery for his presentation of 'Lower Lids and Troughs - Problems and Solutions' (April 2009, Las Vegas), Device Technologies Award for the Best Scientific Presentation by ASAPS (Feb 2009, India) and several other awards by different societies.
Dr. Mendelson is immediate Past President of the International Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and currently Chairman of the Journal Operations Committee for the Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He is also an active member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons, Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
Gino Rigotti M.D. (Verona, Italy)
Gino Rigotti graduated with honours in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Modena in 1969 and won the Lepetit Prize for the best Degree Thesis of the academic year. In March 1970 he became a Chief assistant at the Plastic Surgery Unit of the Verona Hospital Institutes. He is Board Certified in Plastic Surgery by the University of Turin and in Space and Aeronautical Medicine by the University of Rome. At present Dr. Rigotti is the Head of the Division of Plastic Surgery, Burn Unit and State Center for Breast reconstruction of the Azienda Ospedaliera of Verona. Since1988 he has been a consultant at the “'Istituto Nazionale per lo Studio e la Cura dei Tumori of Milan” in Reconstructive Microsurgery. He directed many international courses on Microsurgery, Head and Neck Surgery and Breast Reconstruction. His activity in the recent 15 years was mostly dedicated to Breast Reconstructive Surgery using autologous and alloplastic materials. Now he is mostly involved in clinical activity and research on Adipose Derived Stem-cells. He published 120 articles and chapters in leading medical journals and books. Dr. Rigotti is a member of the following societies: Società Italiana di Chirurgia Plastica, EURAPS, ASPS, SPRAS, Founding Member and President (1988) of Società Italiana di Microchirurgia, Founding Member of Società Latina di Microchirurgia. Dr. Rigotti is in demand internationally to speak at plastic surgery meetings and to demonstrate surgical procedures.
Jack A. Friedland, M.D. (Scottsdale, Arizona, USA)
Dr. Friedland is certified by the American Board of Surgery and The American Board of Plastic Surgery. He has been an Examiner for the American Board of Plastic Surgery since 1994, and a Director since 2004. He is an Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery of the Mayo Medical School , and he is the Chief of the Plastic Surgery Department of Children’s Rehabilitative Services of the State of Arizona . Dr. Friedland is a Fellow and a Governor of the American College of Surgeons. He is an active member of the American Association of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Plastic Surgery, and he has been the President and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He is also a member of many other American and International surgical and plastic surgical societies.
Dr. Friedland has written many articles which have been published in peer-reviewed journals and he has contributed chapters to many books. He was an Associate Editor and is now the Review Editor of the American journal, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is a frequent contributor, lecturer and participant in national and international Plastic Surgery symposia and conferences. Foad Nahai, M.D. (Atlanta, Georgia, USA)
Dr. Nahai is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Professional memberships include numerous international, national, and local plastic surgery organizations. Dr. Nahai is internationally recognized as an innovator in the field of plastic surgery where he has developed and refined many procedures. He has co-authored seven books and published over 135 scientific articles on all aspects of Plastic Surgery. The latest book he co-authored and edited, published in 2005, is a three-volume text entitled The Art of Aesthetic Surgery. He has been invited to lecture and demonstrate plastic surgical procedures all over the world. In addition to numerous professional honors and awards, he is listed in the “Best Doctors in America”, the “Best Doctors in the U.S.” and several magazines as one of the top plastic surgeons. Dr. Nahai is in demand internationally to speak at plastic surgery meetings and to demonstrate surgical procedures. Dr. Nahai has served as a Director of The American Board of Plastic Surgery and currently serves as President of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and President-Elect of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
Thomas L. Roberts, M.D. (Spartanburg, South Carolina, USA)
Diplomat of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Roberts is an Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina. He has served as President of the International Consortium of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, President of the South Carolina Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (twice) and Vice President of the International Society of Cosmetic Laser Surgeons. Dr. Roberts has pioneered in the use of the CO2 and Erbium lasers for cosmetic plastic surgery; a new technique for buttocks augmentation using micro fat grafting, and a safer technique for comprehensive facial rejuvenation. He is the author of over 95 national and international presentations and 28 scientific publications, videotapes, and book chapters on cosmetic surgery. Dr. Roberts has taught state-of-the-art techniques in cosmetic and laser surgery to more than 6,000 physicians through various seminars, instructional courses, symposia and workshops. Over 250 physicians from around the world have visited his center for training in aesthetic surgery. Joseph P. Hunstad, M.D. (Charlotte, North Carolina, USA)
Dr. Hunstad is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the International Consortium of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, the International Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and several national societies. Dr. Hunstad is past President of the North Carolina Society of Plastic Surgeons, past President-Elect of the Lipoplasty Society of North America, and is on the Board of Directors of the Body Contour Research Foundation. Dr. Hunstad has practiced plastic surgery for over 19 years and is the President of the Hunstad Center for Cosmetic Plastic Surgery. He is a Faculty Member at Duke University, an Assistant Consulting Professor at Duke Medical Center and Section Head of Plastic Surgery at Carolinas Medical Center, University Hospital. Dr. Hunstad has published more than forty Plastic Surgery articles in world literature and numerous chapters in plastic surgery textbooks. Dr. Hunstad’s techniques on Tumescent Liposculpture Surgery and Circumferential Abdominoplasty have been featured in instructional DVD and videos by several societies. Ruth Graf, M.D. (Curitiba, Brazil)
Certified by the Brazilian Board of Plastic Surgery and Brazilian Board of General Surgery, Dr. Graf is a Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at the Federal University of Parana, Brazil. She has practiced plastic surgery for over 25 years and has served as President of the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery (Section of Parana) and as Brazilian Secretary of the International Society of Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery (ISAPS). She has visited many countries as the ISAPS Traveling Professor, where she performed different surgeries. She has introduced new techniques in the field of Breast Surgery, known as Subfascial Breast Augmentation and Chest Wall Based Flap, which have gained worldwide recognition by plastic surgeons. She was one of the Brazilian plastic surgeons who introduced video-endoscopy surgery in Brazil in the early 1990s. Dr. Graf actively participates in the Editorial Board of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the official Journal of ISAPS.
